Chan Navarro, a born loser and petty criminal unwittingly acquires a mysterious object from an alternate dimension called the Pendulum. The object summons into his service inhuman spectral bodyguards called Dark Guardians that protect him from harm and make him invincible.  Chan uses his new power to further his own criminal ambitions while being pursued by a conclave of powerful people bent on retrieving the Pendulum, an object they have used to control world events for thousands of years.
